CARMEL – The Westfield girls golf team won another important tournament on Tuesday, claiming the Brittany Kelly Invitational at Woodland Country Club in Carmel.

The No. 1-ranked Shamrocks scored 306, with two of their players finishing in the top four. That included Addi Kooi, who earned co-medalist honors with a score of 69. Zionsville’s Taylor Snively also scored 69; she, Kooi and Carmel’s Maddie Headlee all played in the same group.

Kooi said she enjoys playing with the other two, saying Headlee is “hilarious. I love to play with her.” The senior also noted that playing with the freshman Snively is also fun, and it helps her game as well.

“Taylor pushes me,” said Kooi. “I did not have some of my best game today, but she was playing phenomenal, hit 18 greens today. It really just pushes me to be better.”

Westfield finished nine strokes ahead of the Eagles, who scored 315. Noblesville was third with a 316.

“It’s a huge boost of confidence,” said Kooi. “We’ve had a roll lately. We’ve been doing really well. For us to just go out here each time and put up a consistent score and have fun, I think is the most important thing, because when you have fun, you do better.”

Kelsey Haverluck tied for third place with a 72. Everyone else was consistent as well: Kate Brown totaled 82, Sophie Raines scored 83 and Sami Hanavan carded 89.
