There’s a new rock garden outside of Smoky Row Elementary in Carmel that honors the life of a teacher who passed away earlier this year.

Each student in the school wrote a positive message on the rock.
The goal was to teach the students that kindness matters and to honor the life of Dawn Matters.
She was a teacher at the school and an instructional coach for teachers. She passed away after fighting breast cancer in July.
Those who knew her said she exemplified kindness.
