Dear Editor:
My name is Robyn Cook and I am the Republican candidate for Jackson Township Trustee.
I am writing to voice my opinion and why I support a few of the candidates on our local ballot.
I met Nicole Ryan Duncan when the current township leadership dissolved the Jackson Fire Territory. Her passion and dedication to learn the facts and take a stand for the good of the entire community caught my attention. Over those difficult months she proved to be the real deal. While others started with the same passion and zeal, they quickly faded away once the efforts to save the Jackson Fire Territory failed.
Nicole has continued to stay involved and educate herself regarding township business and has an incredible vision for the good of our entire community.
This, along with her educational background in philanthropy, civic leadership, and non-profit management are necessary assets in our township.
I met Amy Yeary Pascoe while campaigning for the primary election.
She did not take the decision to run for Township Board lightly. I learned, by the questions she asked and the research she did, that she is a sharp businesswoman deeply rooted in this community. Her thoughtful approach to decision making is a valuable and appreciated quality to have when spending taxpayer money and making quality-of-life decisions.
I believe that together, Amy and Nicole will take immediate measures to mend relationships and build bridges not only throughout Jackson Township but the entire tri-town area.
Julie Davis for Hamilton Heights School Board: Here is where I get a little teary.
I have known Mrs. Davis (I still can’t call her Julie!) for 35 years. I was the new girl at Hamilton Heights who just nervously blended in. Mrs. Davis was one of my teachers my junior and senior years. She was always caring, kind and approachable.
Fast forward many years when our paths crossed again. She remembered the girl who just blended in and is still the same compassionate person. These are not the only reasons I support her for Hamilton Heights School Board.
She is an educator who retired from our school system. She then went back to work as an instructional assistant. She loves our kids and wants the best for them! When she says she will be able to offer the Hamilton Heights School Board a unique perspective, I agree; and I believe this will be an asset not only to our students, but to our teachers, parents and the entire community.
Regardless of the outcome of the elections, please know that I am committed to working amicably alongside those who are elected by our citizens. We voiced our desire for change and unity amongst Jackson Township, White River Township, Cicero, Arcadia and Atlanta during the primary election. For me, those goals remain unchanged, and I am dedicated to work diligently to achieve them.
Sincerely,
Robyn Cook
Jackson Township
