February 28, 1956 – July 26, 2023
Rick Lee Jett, 67, Noblesville, fell into the arms of Jesus at 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.
Rick was born on February 28, 1956, to Emil and Katherine Jett in Bethel, Ohio. After graduation from Bethel-Tate High School in 1974, Rick went to train for ministry at Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Mo.
Rick was a lifelong learner and leader. His passion was sharing the healing power of the Gospel through his teaching and his life of compassionate service. He served in ministry alongside his loving and dedicated wife, Nancy (Bates) Jett, for 43 years. Their first full-time ministry was at Galesburg Christian Church in Galesburg, Kan. They then served their community in Marion, Ind., while pastoring at the Marion Church of Christ for 18 years. Their faithful service was expanded in 2002 when Rick became the Executive Director of International Disaster Emergency Service (IDES) until his retirement in 2021. During their time at IDES, they prayerfully tried to lead local churches to meet the physical and spiritual needs of suffering people around the world in the name of Jesus Christ. Throughout Rick’s own suffering, he continued to follow his Good Shepherd through every valley and shadow of death.
Ohio State football also held a special place in Rick’s heart. He will forever be a Buckeye. He found joy in beating Michigan, spending time with his family, reading, and watching action films.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Katherine Jett; and his sister, Reba Sue Wheeler. He is survived by his partner in ministry and loving wife of 43 years, Nancy Jett; son, Richard (Tiffany) Jett; daughter, Rachel (Josh) Hutson; six grandchildren, Kyler Jett, Kenzie Jett, Rubie Hutson, Khloe Jett, Kayde Jett, and Jett Hutson; and nephews, Caleb and Clayton Wheeler.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2023, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Venture Christian Church, 14501 Hazel Dell Pkwy., Carmel, with Mark McGilvrey officiating. The family will have a private burial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the International Disaster Emergency Service (ides.org/donate) and designated for the Rick Jett leadership fund.
