October 9, 1954 – February 10, 2026
Rick Eugene Faucett, 71, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Sheridan, on Tuesday evening, February 10, 2026. Born October 9, 1954, in Lebanon, Ind., he was the son of Bobby Eugene and Retha Fern (Scott) Faucett.
He attended Sheridan High School.
Rick worked in landscaping for much of his career, first with Hittle Landscape, a position he held for over 20 years. He loved every day he spent with the company. He later went to work for Country Mulch, where he continued to work in the landscaping industry albeit in a different capacity. After four years with Country Mulch, he changed gears completely and became a bus monitor for Sheridan Community Schools, a position that truly captured his heart.
Rick’s interests were wide and varied. He loved fishing, racing stock cars (and later RC cars, when age made him slow down), and hitting the open road on his Harley. His favorite activities were those that he could share with his family. Rick was a collector of just about everything. One man’s junk was Rick’s treasure. He loved collecting rocks, especially geodes, and he passed his passion for rock-hunting and collecting along to the grandkids. They created memories along the way; time spent with grandpa, searching for the perfect rock. However, many of Rick’s random collections were not as “understood” by the rest of the family. Rick also loved sharing his love of games, especially chess and dice, with his grandchildren.
Rick’s family is very grateful to know that he is finally at peace. His legacy will live on in the memories of those who were lucky enough to have him in their lives.
Rick is survived by his wife, Sandra Sue (Herbert) Faucett. She and Rick were married on April 27, 1990. Also surviving is his son, Zach R. Parks of Whitestown; daughter, Courtney N. Faucett of Sheridan; four grandchildren, Landyn Gardner, Brooklyn Moss, Noah Parks, and Izzy Shakiur; two sisters, Cheryl Dautrich and Kim Emmons; and three brothers, Kevin Faucett, Bryan Faucett, and Robbie Faucett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Eugene and Retha Fern (Scott) Faucett; brother, Bobby Faucett; and by his daughter, Jennie Shakiur.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the K.V. Elliott American Legion Post 67, 406 E. 10th St., Sheridan.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kercheval Funeral Home in Sheridan.
