November 6, 1936 – June 21, 2022
Beloved husband, father and grandfather Richard “Dick” Berton Hill, 85, passed away on June 21, 2022. An avid supporter of the Colts, Purdue and Carmel athletics (and IU too, but only if he had a grandson on the team), he was happiest attending his grandchildren’s hockey, football, basketball and soccer games.
Born on November 6, 1936, to Virgil and Violet Hill, he was proceeded in death by his parents and siblings Evelyn Shoemaker, Harold “Bud” Hill and Delores Clements. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sharon; children, Jack (Erin) Beery, Brad (Jennifer) Beery and Kim (Troy) Jessee; and grandchildren, Ryan, Britton, Lauren, Bryce Beery, Ashley Jessee and Jessica Jessee.
He graduated from Westfield High School where he lettered in football and basketball, attended Purdue University and later served in the U.S. Air Force. After being honorably discharged, he worked in the engineering departments of Stokely Van Camp and the City of Carmel.
A celebration of life will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, July 1 at Muldoon’s, 111 W. Main St., Suite 100, Carmel.
