Respected Indianapolis leader William G. Schneider passes away

Flanner Buchanan, an affiliate of Buchanan Group, Inc., will host services honoring William “Bill” George Schneider, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and devoted community leader who passed away on April 22, 2026, in Indianapolis. Bill was 92 years old.

The Schneider family invites friends and community members to join them in celebrating Bill’s life across two services. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 29 at Flanner Buchanan – Broad Ripple, followed by a second visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 30 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5584 Crittenden Ave., Indianapolis.

A pillar of Indianapolis civic life for more than five decades, Bill Schneider founded Mister Ice of Indianapolis in 1964 and went on to serve as a Marion County Commissioner and Indianapolis City County Councilman for nearly four decades, earning the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash for his lasting impact on Indiana. He was equally known for his great sense of humor, his warmth, and his deep love of family, the Indiana Pacers, Bobby Knight, and AJ Foyt.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Patricia Schneider; his children, Scott Schneider (Kristine), Deborah Clem (William), Brad Schneider, and Stacy Madden; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Flanner Buchanan is honored to serve the Schneider family during this time and remains committed to supporting families with the compassion, dignity, and care they deserve.
