All year long, Recycled Cycles accepts donations of all types of used bikes and inspects and fixes them to offer to Hamilton County families.
On Saturday, Oct. 6, the group will accept donated bicycles at its repair shop, 810 E. Main St., Westfield. The shop is located up the hill from Big Hoffa’s BBQ. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A limited number of superior bikes may be also available for sale allowing the proceeds to be used to purchase new tires, inner tubes and other bike parts. Many times it takes two or three old bikes to make one good rehabbed bicycle.
Last season this group of retirees rehabbed 325 bicycles that were freely distributed in Hamilton County during Good Samaritan Network’s Christmas Holiday Assistance program at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds in Noblesville. Demand exceeded supply, and this year the group has a goal of rehabbing about 400 children’s and adult bicycles.
Have the kids outgrown their bicycle? Still have an old Schwinn cluttering up the garage? Recycle them to give to others who may not be able to afford a new bike. Your donation gives lots of families a chance to enjoy a safe, rehabbed bike.
The Recycled Cycles team is a diverse group of local repairmen who will inspect donated bicycles and put them in good working order for children, youth and adults who might not be able to afford a bicycle – even a used one.
Recycled Cycles welcomes your donation of any type of bicycle. For every bicycle donated, or bicycle supplies and equipment, a tax-deductible donation receipt will be issued by its fiscal sponsor, Good Samaritan Network, 501c3, for the value of the donation.
Applications for the Holiday Assistance program are required and can be completed online at gsnlive.org/holiday-assistance.
