A recent letter to the editor raised an interesting point about the public availability of information from the various “State of” addresses made in Hamilton County. The concerned citizen writing to this newspaper was specifically concerned about the 2022 State of the County address, which was paired with a lunch and required a cost to attend in person.
The point that writer raised was about the information being made available to every taxpayer in Hamilton County, not just those with the funds and free time to attend a ticketed weekday event.
While The Hamilton County Reporter does usually cover such events, we know a text summary is not the same as hearing the message from the lips of our elected officials. Fortunately, our friends at Hamilton County Television (HCTV) have been not only livestreaming “State of” addresses, HCTV Owner Jim Wafford even makes them available on-demand at hctv1.com.
HCTV is able to do this for the public because of a partnership with the Noblesville Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber CEO Bob DuBois told The Reporter, “Our chamber produces a ‘State of’ series of events that include County, City, Schools, Health, and Economy. Through a partnership with Hamilton County Television, the County, City, and Schools events are video recorded and made available same day on HCTV’s variety of online platforms. For folks who attend the events, their registration fees cover the meal, printing, venue, setup, and audio-visual expenses.”
Just go to hctv1.com and in the “Search broadcasts” section, enter “state of” as your “Search by broadcast” criteria. There you will find the Oct. 26, 2022 State of the Schools luncheon, the Sept. 28, 2022 Noblesville State of the City, the June 29, 2022 State of the County, and others dating back to 2019.
The Reporter’s first choice is of course HCTV, both because it is a local business and because of our working relationship, but for those of you who want other options, the 2022 State of the Schools is also available on YouTube. The 2022 Noblesville State of the City is on YouTube and on the city’s website.
To make things a little easier for everyone in Hamilton County, for this year’s “State of” addresses, this newspaper will offer our readers links to HCTV’s on-demand streams in our online editions for several days after each event.
