Radka Caviness

Radka Caviness, 78, completed her journey of life peacefully at home on July 8, 2017. Radka was born January 2, 1939 in war-torn Macedonia to Dusan and Luba Dimitrovich, who preceded her in death.
Radka immigrated to America in April of 1940 with her mother and older sister Olga, reuniting with Dusan in Oregon. Radka became a citizen of the United States in her fondly-remembered Pacific Northwest. While in college at Portland State, she met the love of her life, Jim Caviness, who later became her husband. He preceded her in death in June 2014. Their 58-year journey together took them to Ithaca NY, Walla Walla WA, San Diego CA, Columbus, GA, and Noblesville, IN.
Radka devoted herself to her husband and children with a love unrivaled even in great literature. Inspired by her beloved Popcha and Grandpa, she instilled a strong belief in tolerance, compassion, and equality in her children. She was a constant wellspring of optimism and love, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Radka is survived by her children, Alys (Cris), Jim (Andrea), Phil (Gilda); grandchildren, Aly Caviness, John Caviness, Jimmy Caviness, Phillip Caviness and Charlotte Caviness; and by her younger sister, Ana Worley of Oregon.
A private celebration of life will take place later this month.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests a donation in her name to the Human Rights Campaign Foundation; Equal Rights Advocates; or similar charity.
The family has entrusted cremation to Randall & Roberts Funeral Home in Noblesville.
