Police investigating threat allegedly made by rifleman at INDOT-owned property

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is investigating a criminal threat reported in the 22700 block of southbound U.S. 31.

Responding units searched for a male who was observed inside a residence at 22730 U.S. 31. According to information obtained on scene, the male suspect was seen on the second floor of the house and was reportedly armed with a rifle, making threats with the gun towards a witness that was outside of the house.

The residence and property were searched and found to be unoccupied; the property is owned by the Indiana Department of Transportation. This investigation continues to be active.

Personnel from the HCSO Patrol Division and the HCSO Emergency Response Unit, along with the Sheridan Police Department, Indiana State Police, the Noblesville Police Department, Hamilton County Emergency Management, and the Sheridan Fire Department were all are on scene providing support and resources.

U.S. 31 is now open again.
