The Noblesville Common Council welcomed a new face to its ranks at its Wednesday meeting. Darren Peterson was sworn in as the new at-large councilman prior to the meeting. The seat was formerly held by Mary Sue Rowland, who resigned from the position last month.
“As a council member, I want to look through the lens of the citizens, all organizations and be a leader in the community as challenges come before us, to insure smart, sustainable growth for a stronger and safer Noblesville,” Peterson said.
Peterson is the president of Peterson Architecture and is active in the community by serving as board president of Nickel Plate Arts, treasurer of Noblesville Main Street, a board member of Keep Noblesville Beautiful and a member of the Noblesville Chamber of Commerce.
“Being on the other side of the podium across the country presenting ideas to councils and communities, makes me a valuable addition and resource to the council,” said Peterson, a resident of Noblesville for 24 years. “In order to fulfill a 14-month term, I have the experience to quickly understand presentations and communicate the best practices from around the country, using the context of active engagement with the Noblesville community.”
After serving the community for almost two decades as mayor and a council member, Rowland resigned on Sept. 17. Peterson, who announced his run for an at-large seat in the May 2019 primary election, was appointed by a caucus of Noblesville precinct committee members on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
