Horseshoe Prairie Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), will commemorate the life and patriotic service of Eli Coverdale with a program and plaque at the Bethel Church Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16. The cemetery is located east of Noblesville at the intersection of Boden Road and State Road 38.
The public is invited to the commemoration at the cemetery, as well as the reception at Hamilton East Public Library immediately following the event.
Eli Coverdale served his country in the Revolutionary War at age 15. Born in Sussex, Del., he would later become a resident of Hamilton County. He died of burns having fought a brush fire on his farm in Wayne Township when he was over 96 years old. Several of Coverdale’s descendants still live in the area.
