Dear Editor:
It is sad and disappointing that Bishop Trimble chose to conflate the words of American hero Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a means to politically criticize the President. (Editor’s note: Click here to read Bishop Trimble’s letter.)
The remarks I’ve heard from members of the “Squad,” a group of radical leftists, have been mostly mean-spirited, often hateful and even anti-Semitic toward other Americans, the President, and the country in general. I’ve yet to hear one realistically constructive idea from “The Squad” or their sycophants, and that, sir, was not the way of Dr. King.
Everyone who pays attention knows the President is a counter-puncher. If you knew American history you would realize he’s not the only president to have that characteristic.
I don’t believe his words taken in full context were racist. It is not unique to America that citizens feel strongly about their country, flag and national anthem. This is why identity politics is so dangerous. Surely the Bishop doesn’t want to see us evolve into a fifth-column where citizens aren’t loyal to this country!
So, to emphasize the point, if you hate this country, get out. It has absolutely nothing to do with the melanin in a person’s skin! There are people from around the world literally dying to come here and participate in the American dream. Regardless of ethnicity most Americans, I believe, would rather have them here than the haters.
How much more encouraging and less divisive it would have been for Bishop Trimble to note the significant progress since the 1960 Civil Rights Law was enacted, which was largely thanks to northern Republican legislators.
Can we continue to improve? Of course. We are human. I suggest the Bishop should be a bit more concerned with the nihilistic, postmodern, neo-Marxist rhetoric “The Squad” and their followers praise and glorify. It doesn’t require an epiphany to imagine the difficulty of achieving a resurgence of Judeo-Christian values that includes more government in our lives.

Wow, this is the type of person that scares me. Wrapped in the flag and religion. Not just any flag but his flag, not just any religion but his religion. How dare you tell people that are citizens, protected by the constitution just like he is, to get out for exercising the freedom of speech. You point out the Radical Left and the things they say, what about the normal right and what they say every day. You say Trump is a counter puncher, there may have been others but that’s not what we should be. You Sir, Scare me to death.
