Noblesville man dies in single-car crash

At approximately 3:06 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, Noblesville police officers responded to the area of 146th Street and Promise Road regarding a report of a single-vehicle crash.

Officers arrived at the scene a short time later. Evidence and witness statements indicated that a 2013 Chrysler 200 was traveling eastbound on 146th Street at a high rate of speed when it struck the curb on the south side of road just west of Promise Road. The vehicle left the roadway and rolled over several times before coming to rest on the south side of 146th Street. The driver of the vehicle was ejected as a result of the crash. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

The driver, Derrick M. Shetler, 35, Noblesville, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Noblesville Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit was summoned to the scene to investigate.

Eastbound 146th Street was temporarily closed while investigators collected evidence and investigated the crash. The closure was in place until 7 a.m. Saturday.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
