Noblesville man arrested for firing shots during party

At approximately 11:29 p.m. on April 24, Noblesville police officers responded to 15552 Herriman Blvd., in reference to a report of a shooting.

Based on witness statements and other potential evidence at the scene, a social gathering was taking place at the address when a disturbance broke out between several attendees. During the scuffle, it was reported that a male subject brandished a handgun and allegedly fired at least two rounds, striking another male with one of the rounds.

Witnesses at the party stated that the suspect left the scene shortly after the shooting and was possibly en route to his residence at 14827 Redcliff Drive, Noblesville. Officers from the Noblesville Police Department, the Westfield Police Department and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department responded to the address and were able to negotiate the surrender and arrest of the suspect without incident.

The victim was identified as Norm Keefer, 41, Fishers. It is believed that Keefer was attempting to separate parties involved in the altercation and was shot during the process. Keefer suffered a single gunshot wound to the leg and was transported by ground ambulance to Ascension St. Vincent (Indianapolis) with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, Oleksandr Viktorovich Humeniuk, 40, Noblesville, was transported and booked at the Hamilton County Jail on the following preliminary charges: Attempted Murder, I.C. 35-42-1-1; Battery w/ a Deadly Weapon, I.C. 35-42-2-1 (Level 5 Felony); and Intimidation, I.C. 35-45-2-1 (Level 5 Felony)

A charge is merely an accusation and the defendant(s) is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
