Noblesville ideas going national

Judi Johnson, economic development director for the City of Noblesville, will be speaking at the CEOs for Cities National Meeting this year in Phoenix, Ariz. At 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 1, Johnson will speak as part of the “How Will We Live & Thrive?” on the Housing, Education and The Arts Panel.

The City of Noblesville lives and thrives by saying “Why not?” to ideas from its strategic partners. Most recently Noblesville has prioritized ideas that have maximized efforts in education and the arts. The process used most successfully to sustain those ideas has been one of collaboration – to identify and incubate opportunity.

In 2012, the Noblesville Economic Development Department and local businesses were challenged by workforce needs at the same time local high school administration was pondering how to create a more effective, real-life career path for their students. Three years later, the intersection of those needs resulted in an alliance between government, education and business called NoblesvilleWORKS.

A collaborative strategy also exists with the arts. A partnership between Hamilton County Tourism, Nickel Plate Arts, Noblesville Main Street and the Noblesville Arts Council identified a shared vision for the City.

The execution of that vision resulted in the brand “Hipstoric,” which positions downtown Noblesville and acts as an umbrella for all arts activities. The synergy has attracted additional artists, events and small businesses to downtown and the State of Indiana recognized that effort by designating Noblesville as a Cultural Arts District.
