Join Noblesville Creates (NC) for an immersive celebration of Dia de los Muertos, a vibrant cultural event honoring the beauty of life, creativity, and remembrance. The annual Day of the Dead celebration will take place 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 at NC’s 8th Street campus.
Rooted in ancient Mexican traditions, Dia de los Muertos is a joyful occasion where families come together to honor the memories of loved ones who have passed. This year’s event at NC highlights the artistic spirit of the holiday, offering an engaging experience for both families and adults. NC thanks Esperanza Alonzo and Sophie Abell for their leadership and guidance in helping to plan this event.
At the event, families can explore Mexican art and culture through various interactive activities, including hands-on crafts and artistic creations like piñata-making and crafting iconic Catrinas, a skeleton figure and prominent symbol of Day of the Dead. There will be opportunities to create art, some complimentary and others available for a small fee. Additionally, face painting will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. by Lisa Knowles.
The celebration will also feature an Artist Market, showcasing the talents of local Mexican artists including Yesenia Limo, Irma Arteaga, Ken Skelton, Esperanza Alonzo, and Martha Alonzo. For an added dose of entertainment, the Cardinal Comedy Club will be hosting a new production called “Spooky Show” at Hamilton County Artists’ Association during the event, blending humor with the history of Spiritualism. Tickets for the “Spooky Show” are $15 and advanced registration is recommended. Lastly, live music will be provided by El Mariachi Solo, adding a vibrant soundtrack to the day’s festivities.
Special this year: Texy Mexy Pop-Up Shop!
Noblesville’s beloved Mexican restaurant, Texy Mexy, will make a special appearance at this year’s event. Savor a variety of their signature dishes right on the Noblesville Creates campus.
This event offers a unique opportunity to celebrate the rich traditions of Dia de los Muertos, creating cherished memories with family and friends while honoring those who are no longer with us. Don’t miss this vibrant, heartwarming celebration of culture, community, and creativity!
