She has given local, regional and national workshops on various writing topics thanks to her 15+ years as a grant professional.

Shankland lives in Noblesville with her husband, two sons, two dogs and two cats. She enjoys volunteering for various local organizations, hoop dancing, reading and walking everywhere she possibly can.
