Nickel Plate Heritage Railroad is ensuring clear visibility for vehicular traffic at rail crossings with brush cutting efforts that will continue through July 6.
Atlanta Pacific Rail crew will cut all branches and brush along the track 4 to 5 inches or less in diameter. This will help maintain clear visibility for vehicular traffic at crossings. In addition, it will prevent the brush from scratching the sides of the historic and newly-restored equipment arriving in mid-July.
Weed spraying took place Thursday. The spray is an environmentally friendly mix of weed killer that will spray from the center of the track out both directions, killing vegetation. Weed spraying was completed from Tipton to Indianapolis.
Nickel Plate Express’ equipment is expected to arrive in mid-July, with excursions beginning in September.
Houses along the track should contact info@nickelplateexpress.com with questions or concerns.
