New roundabout coming soon to 116th Street & AAA Way in Carmel

The City of Carmel is preparing for a construction project at one of the city’s busiest intersections.

Starting Monday, July 13, the intersection at 116th Street and AAA Way will be closed for the construction of a new roundabout. Access to the businesses in the Merchants Square and surrounding areas will remain open for the duration of the project.

The upgraded intersection will replace the current traffic signal, improving safety and reducing travel time for community members, businesses, and visitors.

Another example of Carmel’s commitment to efficient and safe navigation, the project will be accomplished through a full-closure plan that offers the benefits of:

  • Reduced construction time
  • A safer project for workers and patrons frequenting businesses in the area
  • Financial savings of several hundred thousand dollars versus a partial closure

Those needing to access a business south of 116th Street can travel Keystone Parkway and come in from the east. The map shown here illustrates other route options, as well.

The project is expected to be completed in October. If you have additional questions, please contact the Engineering Department at engineering@carmel.in.gov or (317) 571-2441.
