New Castle’s fast start spells fate for Huskies

The REPORTER

On Friday night, the Hamilton Heights Huskies were looking to keep winning following Tuesday night’s 26-point win at Clinton Central.

Unfortunately for Heights, New Castle had other plans and burst out from the opening tip on a mission. The visiting Trojans got off to a 20-9 lead through one. That made it a difficult hill for the Huskies to climb, in a 51-37 home loss.

Heights was able to keep scoring to a minimum in the second, out-scoring the Trojans 7-2 and trailed just 22-16 at halftime.

New Castle took the third 14-12, pushing the lead to 36-28 heading into the fourth.

A 15-9 fourth would help the Trojans claim a double-digit road win in Arcadia on Friday night, 51-37.

Tillman Etchison led the Huskies with a team-high 15 points and five rebounds. Junior Dreydin Serna had nine and grabbed four boards.

Hamilton Heights (1-2) hits the road tonight for an all-county matchup in Noblesville at Class 3A No. 2 Guerin Catholic (3-0).
