Duke Energy has made updates to its Home Energy House Call program in Indiana – updates that can help customers save both energy and money during the summer heat.
If you’re not familiar with it, Home Energy House Call is a free energy assessment program for eligible Duke Energy customers. It’s offered to customers in single-family homes, condominiums, townhomes or manufactured homes that have an electric water heater, electric heat or central air conditioning.
Home Energy House Calls are performed by a certified energy professional in your home or over the phone or web, and once completed, customers receive free energy efficiency products, a customized usage report, low-cost tips and expert recommendations to help them see energy savings. Through education and awareness of energy use, the program aims to help customers find ways to save energy and money by being more efficient.
New this year, Duke Energy has added to the list of energy-saving products that are offered, and can be installed for free, during an in-home Home Energy House Call. The list of products, if a customer qualifies for the in-person visit, now includes items such as:
- Furnace filter whistles that alert customers to change their furnace filter; regularly replacing these filters helps save on heating and cooling costs
- Efficient showerheads and kitchen and bath faucet aerators, which use air to push out water, saving on both electric and water costs
- Valves that reduce the amount of hot water that’s used in the shower
- Smart power strips that ensure devices are not pulling energy even when they are supposed to be off
- Spray foam that’s used to fill gaps in the home that may be leading to air leaks
- Caulking, which saves energy by reducing air that leaks from the home
Duke Energy is committed to helping families and individuals manage their energy costs amid rising temperatures and higher energy use. This program is a great way for customers to get personalized recommendations and insights to help them save energy and ultimately money on their energy bills each month.
