Noblesville’s basketball team split a girls-boys Hoosier Crossroads Conference doubleheader at Zionsville on Friday.
The Millers girls scored a 58-48 victory, pulling away from the Eagles in the second half to get their first HCC win of the season. The two teams were tied at 11-11 after the first quarter and 24-24 at halftime, but Noblesville had a strong defensive third quarter, outscoring Zionsville 14-5.
Three Millers players reached double figures. Ashlynn Shade scored 20 points, with Mallory Miller adding 17 and Abby Haley scoring 14. Shade came close to a triple-double, with nine steals and seven rebounds. Miller dished out four assists and Anna Kiser made four steals.
Noblesville’s boys lost 60-49. The Eagles jumped out to a 14-4 lead after the first quarter, and maintained that margin for the remainder of the game, leading 28-18 at halftime.
The Millers had an outstanding shooting game, making 13 of 25 3-point attempts. Elijah Smith made six 3-pointers on his way to 20 points, with David Lloyd draining five 3s for 15 points. Brendon Fisher had two 3-pointers. Lloyd collected four rebounds and Alex Hunt made two blocked shots.
The Noblesville girls are 1-5 in the conference and 8-12 overall, and finish HCC play next Saturday (Jan. 25) at Franklin Central. The Millers boys are 0-3 in the HCC and 6-8 overall, and return to The Mill tonight to host Fort Wayne Northrop.
