The Noblesville gymnastics team competed at the Northwestern Invitational on Saturday, placing fifth out of eight teams with a score of 88.975 points.
The Millers had their best score in the vault, totaling 24.35 in that event. Hailey Knoll had the best individual mark of the day for Noblesville with an 8.60, while Lauren Paska scored 8.175.
Paska led the way on the floor exercise with a 7.70, and Knoll earned a 7.55 on both the uneven bars and the balance beam. Knoll and Lyrric Barnett both had “beam sticks” at the event.
“This is a very young team and there’s still lots to learn and so much room for growth, however this young team is producing scores almost at the 90s and that was even without their anchor,” said Millers coach Jody Ramey. Noblesville’s Kiera Harper did not compete at the event.
“When we add or higher skills and including twisting elements/skills, the scores will rise dramatically and we’re only at the beginning of the season,” said Ramey.
The Millers are back in action Saturday at the Western Invitational, which begins at noon.
“Our goal this week is to start twisting our skills to add more value and difficulty into their routines before this next weekend,” said Ramey. “I am hoping to see an improvement in their scores this weekend.”
