Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jennifer McCormick held first of three town halls in the state to discuss reproductive rights on Wednesday evening at Holy Family Episcopal Church, 11445 Fishers Point Blvd., Fishers.
She had invited the seven other gubernatorial candidates to the town hall, but none showed.
The former Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction spoke to a standing-room only crowd about several issues regarding reproductive healthcare, including access to OBGYNs and importance of men being involved in family planning decisions. McCormick pointed out that 33 percent of Hoosier counties do not have an OBGYN.
She also said that citizen-led ballot initiatives are needed to address these issues.
