Matthew Lawrence Fukuhara, 44, Fishers, passed away on August 18, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer.
Matt was a loving father, husband, son, and brother. He was so proud of his kids and nieces, and nephews. His family was everything to him and he gave his all to being the best husband and father until his last day.
Matt was born in Colorado. After high school, he attended CU in Boulder and then continued his education in Indiana, graduating with distinction from IU Kelley School of Business with a BS in Accounting/Finance and a minor in economics. After graduation Matt began his career in the banking industry. He spent many years at Salin Bank before finding his place at FHLBI as a Senior Financial Systems Engineer. He had a gift with numbers and his loyalty and skills made him a valuable and well-respected employee and co-worker.
To know Matt was to love him. He laughed easily and often. He was an avid Colorado sports fan, and he loved watching games while texting his dad and brother over plays, calls and players. His other passion was music, and he spent many memorable nights with friends at Deer Creek or on the road attending Phish or Grateful Dead shows.
Matt is survived by his wife of 16 years Mary (Poland); daughter, Alice, 14; son, Ben, 12; parents, Mike and Jan; brother, Jim; sister, Kelci, and many, many loving family members and friends who miss him greatly.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the Hampton Inn in Fishers, with more details to follow.
