Mary Frances Stone Tate

August 15, 1933 – December 9, 2025

Mary Frances Stone Tate, 92, Noblesville, passed away on December 9, 2025. Born on August 15, 1933, in Long Beach, Calif., Mary led a rich and purposeful life devoted to faith, family, creativity, and community.

A graduate of San Diego State in 1954, she married the love of her life, Robert L. Tate, in 1955. Together they raised two children, Robert Edmund Tate and Mary Lynn (Chris) Tate. Mary and Robert shared decades of devotion until his passing. Professionally, Mary’s determination and intellect shone through in 1980 when she and her husband started a defense contracting business. Later, she discovered a passion for watercolor painting, beginning in 1995, and lovingly shared her artistic gift by teaching others.

Mary was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church of North Hollywood, where she founded the Ruth Circle, taught Sunday school, and served in leadership positions including President of the Board of Global Missions and President of the Church and Society. Additionally, she was active in the PEO Sisterhood and Hamilton County Purdue Extension.

A calling will be held at noon, followed by a service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Noblesville First United Methodist Church, 2051 Monument St., Noblesville. Interment will follow on Thursday at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
