Marci Ann Herbert, 56, Fishers, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025, at her home. She was born on January 5, 1969, in Eugene, Ore. She graduated from Fremont High School (Fremont, Ind.) in 1987, then attended Tri-State University (now Trine University, Angola, Ind.) where she graduated in 1991.
Marci was a fully devoted follower of Christ, a retired elementary teacher (17 years at Heritage Christian), and a member of Fall Creek Church. She was a very creative person who enjoyed planning games and parties, making every event special. Traditions were very important to Marci and were a part of many beloved family gatherings. Marci was a huge Oregon Ducks fan, as evidenced by her ability to dress her entire classroom of students in Oregon Ducks apparel. Loved by her former students, as well as their parents, her influence extended far beyond the classroom. Her big smile radiated joy and her servant heart always made room for everyone. She was very adventurous and loved nature and hiking.
She is survived by her husband, Richard “Rich” Herbert; father, Duane (Susan) Cox; brother, Daren (Beverly) Cox; sister, Michelle (Gene) Mayes; and her nieces and nephews, Rachel (Nate) Newcomer, David (Ashlynn) Cox, Mikayla Mayes, Elijah Mayes, and McKenzy Mayes.
Marci was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Cox.
Services will be held at Fall Creek Church, 8901 Fall Creek Road, Indianapolis, on Thursday July 31, 2025, with visitation from 3 to 6 p.m. and a service immediately following.
