Malcolm Alan Mitchell, 66, Westfield, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023. He was born on July 5, 1957, in Kokomo, Ind., son of Malcolm Mitchell and Bonita V. (Gentry) Skinner.
Alan was a graduate of Westfield High School. He was proud to be an employee of Federal Express. His career with FedEx began in August of 1987 and he retired 35 years later in 2022.
Alan loved spending time with his family and the liveliness of visiting the beach in Florida and Las Vegas. He enjoyed all sports, especially baseball and football, watching his children and later his grandchildren playing sports. He looked forward to the almost weekly special time with his grandson, Ryan, going to Jay’s pitching lessons, and to practice hitting. He enjoyed keeping baseball stats, and supporting Makenzie, Megan, and Emma in their swimming events, and horseback riding.
In addition to his parents, Alan was preceded in death by his daughter, Rachel Lynn Mitchell.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Marcie (Mishler) Mitchell; children, Kristen (Jeff) Gater, April Mitchell, Julie (Cole) Way, and Chad Mitchell; four grandchildren, Makenzie Gater, Megan Gater, Emma Gater, and Ryan Mitchell; and brother, David Skinner.
Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. on January 10, 2024, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 14596 Oak Ridge Road, Carmel, where the Memorial Mass will begin at noon.
In memory of Alan, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 11550 N. Meridian St., Carmel, IN 46032. Envelopes will be available at the service.
