Mable Louise Dixson

July 12, 1932 – March 1, 2026

Mable Louise Dixson, 93, Westfield, passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and caregivers, at The Waters of Tipton. Born July 12, 1932, in Jolietville, she was the daughter of Henry Middleton “Middie” Fosnight and Mable Gertrude “Gertie” (Parks) Fosnight.

Mable was very proud to be an American and was honored to be a member of the American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary.

Mable attended school in Westfield before joining the workforce. She did a little bit of everything over the years and spent 16 years as a seamstress at Leatherite in Carmel. Her favorite memories, though, came from the time she spent as a loving homemaker.

Sewing wasn’t just a job for Mable; it was also a hobby that became a family tradition. All of her grandchildren (including her canine grandbabies) received their very own quilt made by grandma Mable. These quilts were a labor of love for those who meant the world to her.

Mable loved exploring the USA. Her travels took her to some beautiful places and left her with wonderful memories. She especially enjoyed the canyons out west and Niagara Falls in the northeast, but no matter where the open road took her, the adventure wasn’t complete without the “occasional” casino stop.

Family was a very important part of Mable’s life, and that went double for her four-legged family. She loved animals in all shapes and sizes, but cats were her weakness. She was the proverbial cat lady who never met a cat that she didn’t instantly fall in love with.

Mable is survived by her son, Bobby Joe Heinzmann (Roberta) of Tipton; daughter, Bonnie Diane Harvey-Moore (Chuck) of Tipton; grandchildren, James Earnest Ford II, Marcie Jo Henry (Bryan), Jennifer Louise Ford, Steve Harvey (Heather), Corey R. Heinzmann (Angie), and Troy P. Heinzmann; many loved great and great-great grandchildren; oodles of loved nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Linda Fosnight; and her canine grandbabies, Sophie and Emily.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Middleton “Middie” Fosnight and Mable Gertrude “Gertie” (Parks) Fosnight; daughter, Audrey Ford; son-in-law, James Earnest Ford; granddaughter, Lalainya Harvey; two brothers, Henry Arthur Fosnight, and her baby brother (to whom she was very close) Richard Harold Fosnight; and by her second husband, Edward E. Dixon.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2026, at Little Eagle Creek Cemetery in Westfield. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be presented to the Speedway, Indiana American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary, or to the Tipton County Humane Society.
