State Sen. J.D. Ford (D-Indianapolis) and State Rep. Victoria Garcia Wilburn (D-Fishers) are inviting residents of Senate District 29 and House District 32 to attend a joint legislative town hall from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 18.
The town hall will take place in Multi-purpose Room A at the Monon Community Center, 1235 Central Park Drive East, Carmel.
As the 2024 legislative session approaches with a January start date, Ford and Garcia Wilburn consider it imperative that they fully understand the sentiments of their constituents on key issues facing their communities.
“These town halls are a great opportunity to take the temperature of the district and check-in with each other as neighbors,” State Sen. Ford said. “It’s a joy for me to work with Representative Garcia Wilburn and come together with the communities we serve to hear about the issues facing Hoosiers firsthand. The feedback I get from forums like our town hall helps me to be a better legislator and advocate for District 29.”
“I am excited to share information about my filed legislation with district constituents and learn how I can best support the residents of Carmel, Fishers and Indianapolis at the legislature,” State Rep. Garcia Wilburn said. “It’s my goal as a state representative to make government more accessible, and coming to a town hall is a great way to let me know what matters to you.”
Additionally, the town hall will be an opportunity for residents to learn about legislation passed during the 2023 legislative session and available state resources. Ford and Garcia Wilburn are also encouraging attendees to be good neighbors by bringing non-perishable food to donate to a local food pantry in time for the holidays.
