Raise $2,250 for program helping disabled play baseball
Submitted
On Saturday, March 29, the Westfield Lions Club helped the Westfield High School (WHS) Service Over Self (S.O.S.) Club serve pancakes and raise funds for the Miracle League of Westfield. This is the third year in a row the S.O.S. Club has teamed up with the Lions to support the Miracle League.
Megan Springer, the WHS sponsor for the S.O.S. Club, once again did an amazing job facilitating the event and organizing the students to plan, promote, and run the breakfast. The Westfield Lions provided support by purchasing the supplies and volunteering to serve alongside the S.O.S. Club at the breakfast. The Lions have been supporting and serving the S.O.S. Club since it was formed during COVID. Before that, the Lions worked with the WHS LEO Club for 12 years serving the community and raising funds for various charities.

The Lions and the S.O.S. Club owe a huge debt of gratitude to the WHS Food Service staff for their help making the last three pancake breakfasts successful. Paul Sherrer, Director of Food Services for Westfield Washington Schools, managed the coordination of setting up and holding the breakfast in the high school’s cafeteria. He and his staff members spent their Saturday morning assisting the S.O.S. Club and making sure the event ran smoothly.
