On Tuesday, May 19, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) named Lindsay Gramlich’s campaign for Indiana House District 39 a must-win Target Race for Democrats in the Indiana House.

The DLCC is the official Democratic Party committee charged with identifying the best opportunities to build Democratic power in state legislatures, and its expansive Target Race program highlights candidates in the most competitive and consequential races nationwide. This announcement marks the largest slate of Indiana DLCC target races in history.

“I am absolutely honored and excited that House District 39 has been identified as a DLCC Target Race,” Gramlich said. “While District 39 has long been a Republican-held seat, this target race designation proves that more and more people are realizing that our race has the potential to finally flip this seat blue this year, and that Democratic gains in Indiana shouldn’t be counted out.”

Gramlich has been a longtime community advocate and brings with her over 16 years of experience in leadership and philanthropy in central Indiana. Currently, she serves as the President and CEO of Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis, a nonprofit leadership organization dedicated to helping girls realize their full potential, and has also worked in various capacities at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. She is a 2026 recipient of the Indianapolis Business Journal’s prestigious “Forty Under 40” award, which recognizes young professionals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and achievements in their careers, and was voted one of Indy’s Most Pivotal Leaders in 2022.

“This endorsement follows historic results in the recent May primary election, in which we more than doubled the votes received in the 2024 Democratic primary, won nearly half the precincts in the district, and gained new Democratic voters in every neighborhood,” Gramlich said. “Hoosiers have made themselves clear that they are angry and ready for a change after decades of failed Republican policy in our state government.”

Gramlich is a graduate of several notable leadership fellowships in central Indiana. She has served on various boards and currently sits on the DePauw Alumni Association Board and served as Co-Chair of Community Outreach of the Local Organizing Committee of the 2026 Final Four. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from DePauw University and a Master of Public Affairs from Indiana University.

Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Heather Williams issued the following statement:

“Democrats need to flip just four seats to break the GOP supermajority in the Indiana House. Every single race counts for building Democratic power and fighting against GOP extremism. Hoosiers deserve leaders who will fight to make life more affordable for working families, which is why the DLCC is proud to uplift Lindsay Gramlich in this must-win race. Lindsay has already hit the ground running, and the DLCC will be there every step of the way to get her and Indiana Democrats across the finish line.”
