The Noblesville Girls Lacrosse program started the season with a strong showing against Cathedral Tuesday Night.
The Millers varsity got the season started with a win, beating Cathedral 16-14. After trailing 5-4 at the end of the first quarter, the Millers took the lead in the second quarter and never looked back.
Noblesville had a balanced scoring attack with seven players scoring goals. Nataley Blackburn led the scoring with five goals, Hannah Miller had three, Chloe Barnett had two goals and two assists, Emma Hammond and Lydia Dumas each contributed two goals, Marisha Woehler had one goal and two assists, and Ashley Ralph contributed a goal and an assist.
Hammond led the team on the draw with seven draw controls while Blackburn had eight ground balls. Both goalkeepers had a solid performance on the night with Lauren Fischer collecting two saves in the first half and Kate Scott with seven saves in the second half.
Noblesville’s junior varsity Black team started the night off by defeating Cathedral 12-2. The Millers were able to control the offense, winning 14 of 17 draws controls, led by Avonmore Wheatley with 10 and Kaleigh Moller contributing the other four.
The balanced scoring attack was led by Wheatley with four goals and two assists. Katelyn Etchison had three goals. Clara Peters had two goals and two assists while Renee Garrett, Selby Jackson, and Moller each contributed a goal. Emersen Leo led the defensive stand for the Millers with two ground balls and three forced turnovers.
Noblesville is back in action on Saturday. The Millers’ JV Gold team starts its season with two games, playing Carmel at 9 a.m. and Leo at 10 a.m. The Noblesville varsity plays Avon at noon.
