Carmel’s boys lacrosse team split weekend games, overwhelming Homestead 21-3 Friday night before falling to Louisville St. Xavier on Saturday.
The Greyhounds led the Spartans 4-3 after the first quarter and 7-4 at halftime, then pulled away in the third quarter by scoring 10 goals. Carmel didn’t allow Homestead a single score in the second half.
“We took a bit to get going, but our ride looked great and we were getting good looks on our offensive possessions,” said Carmel coach Jack Meachum. “The team did a good job responding to some adjustments at halftime and we played much better.”
The ‘Hounds trailed St. Xavier 3-1 after one quarter and 8-1 at halftime.
“We had a quick turnaround with a Friday/Saturday game, and we didn’t execute at the level needed against such a talented team,” said Meachum. “This was a great opportunity for us to come out and compete against a high level opponent, and we will get better from it.”
Carmel’s next game is April 30 when it hosts Center Grove.
