May 24, 1924 – April 9, 2020
Kenneth L. “Pete” Partlow, 95, of the south side of Ekin, went to be with Jesus on April 9, 2020. Born May 24, 1924 in Tipton County, he was the son of the late Vern F. and Opal Gladis (Henderson) Partlow.
He was a 1943 graduate of Sheridan High School. After graduation, Pete proudly served his country during WW II as a soldier with the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on December 11, 1946.
While Pete was growing up, he helped on the family farm, and in between his chores and responsibilities found time to play high school basketball for the Blackhawks. After returning from the service, Pete entered the workforce and spent many of those working years with Chrysler.
On June 7, 1950, Pete married the love of his life, Wilma J. “Chick” (Chappell) Partlow. They were two peas in a pod who loved each other very much. Chick and Pete were a joy to be around, and laughter filled the room whenever they visited with friends. Many mistakenly believed that Pete was the Deputy Mayor of Ekin, when in fact he was the Sheriff. This was a position he held due to his close association to the “Mayor” of Ekin – his wife, Chick. Pete and Chick loved being around people, and in turn, people loved being around them. Pete had many hobbies and especially enjoyed hunting and pitching horseshoes, but traveling around the country with their son Jeff is what the couple enjoyed the most.
Pete is survived by his son, Jeff Partlow, Ekin; granddaughter, Jessica Cooper; great-grandsons, Isaiah and Mikey Cooper; and sisters, Rebecca Dell and Barbara Savage (Lester), both of Sheridan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Partlow; sister, Marjorie Law; brother-in-law, Donel R. Law; and brother-in-law, Charles Dell.
Through the recommendation of our public health officials with regards to public health and safety, private family services will be held at this time.
Pete and Chick will be laid to rest at Boxley Cemetery located in Boxley, Ind.
