John Nicholas Allen Binkley, Jr.

July 4, 1945 – May 17, 2023

John Nicholas Allen Binkley, Jr., also known as Buck, passed away on May 17, 2023, at his home near Cicero with his family at this side. He was born on July 4, 1945, to John Nicholas Allen & Emma Lee (Rigsby) Binkley in Lebanon, Tenn.

Buck went to work at a young age at the Lebanon Handle Company in his home town. He ran a lathe making handles for all kinds of tools such as hammers, screw drivers, saws, etc. After working there for almost 20 years, he headed north to central Indiana and settled in Tipton.

Changing an indoor job for an outdoor one, he became a groundskeeper for almost 40 years.

Buck was an animal lover and enjoyed watching and feeding the birds. He also liked to watch the old western movies where the strong and the good guys always won. He liked to fish and he liked to garden. Often in late summer you would see five-gallon buckets in front of his home sharing the vegetables he had produced with his neighbors.

He married Mary Catherine (Moss) Brinkley, who preceded him in death. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was also preceded in death by the following siblings: Clara, Ben, George Allen, Kathryn, Hazel, Billy, and Frances.

Surviving him are daughters, Mary Elizabeth Stumpf of Cicero, Tina Marie Binkley of Manchester, Tenn., and Janice Lee Binkley of Tullahoma, Tenn.; sisters, Dlorise Poston, Susan Crawford, and Mary Bucy, all of Lebanon, Tenn.; and grandchildren, Chasity, Brandi, Nathan, Kristin, Daniel, Cody, Ashley, Christopher, and Nicholas.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Tetersburg Cemetery near Tipton with Rev. Adam Colter officiating. Burial is to follow.
