I’m so very sorry to learn of John’s passing! John Bundy was a great man, artisan, and Hoosier. I met him through his artistry, but was then fortunate to get to know him as a person, and considered him a friend. I enjoyed visiting with him at his shop, listening to his stories, and receiving his letters. I am honored to have had a small part (together with my friend Representative Tony Cook) in organizing some of the information which led to the Governor awarding him the Sagamore of the Wabash, an award he richly deserved for his artistry, conservation efforts, and the unique way in which his craft contributed toward our state’s economic growth. I am grateful to have spent time with him last week, sharing a meal, buying a couple of his decoys, walking through property near his shop and discussing its history, features, and significance. I will miss my friend. My sincere condolences to the Bundy Family and anyone who called John a friend. Fair winds and following seas, John!
Most sincerely,
Danny Kelley
