John Ditslear: Why I’m running for County Council

Dear Editor:

It’s simple. I have always focused on one critical goal: Bettering our Hoosier community. I’ve always been passionate about finding innovative solutions to challenges that face the community. I will take that same philosophy to the Hamilton County Council.

I am disheartened by the lack of communication and collaboration with some of our current County Council members. It’s time for a change. It’s time to take action.

I want to take the experience I’ve gained to the County Council. I’ve been a four-term Noblesville Mayor, a Precinct Committeeman, a township chairman, President of the Noblesville Chamber of Commerce, a three-term Noblesville School Board Member, and a veteran.

While leading the City of Noblesville as Mayor, the role required constant adaptability, proactive planning, collaboration, and listening to our residents. While I served Noblesville, our population grew 57 percent to more than 60,000 people.

I listened, and listened more, to make solid decisions based on what’s best for our community. Even then, there was consistent teamwork happening across the county, and I want to continue that.

With all the uncertainty in our community going on currently, it’s time to have a County Councilor who will work together well with others to find solutions that benefit everyone. I humbly ask for your vote on or before June 2.

John Ditslear
