Cicero has been fortunate to have had the dedicated services of Police Officer Jeffrey Rednour for over three decades. Throughout his career, Officer Rednour has exemplified professionalism, integrity, and a genuine commitment to the safety and well-being of Cicero.
Officer Rednour’s journey began in 1989 when he joined the Cicero Police Department as a rookie officer. He then graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 1990. From the very beginning, he demonstrated a remarkable work ethic and a passion for upholding the law. Through years of hard work, he steadily climbed the ranks, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and community members alike.
As a result of his hard work and dedication, he earned the title of Chief in 2021. Most recently, Officer Rednour received the 2022-2023 American Legion 6th District Law Officer of the Year Lewis Schmidt Award this past month.
One of Officer Rednour’s defining qualities is his unwavering dedication to protecting and serving the residents of Cicero. Whether he is responding to emergency calls, patrolling the streets, or conducting investigations, he approaches each task with a deep sense of responsibility and an unwavering commitment to justice. His calm demeanor, quick thinking, and problem-solving skills have proven invaluable in diffusing tense situations and ensuring the safety of both civilians and fellow officers.
Officer Rednour was recognized by the American Heart Association in 1996 for being the first police officer in the state of Indiana to respond and successfully use an AED on a victim in cardiac arrest.
Throughout his career, Officer Rednour has actively engaged with the community, forging strong relationships and fostering trust between law enforcement and the residents of Cicero. He has been a presence at local schools, educating children about the importance of safety and promoting positive interactions with the police. His efforts to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community have earned him widespread admiration and praise. Jeff volunteers his time at local events and enjoys interacting with the community.
Officer Rednour’s dedication to professional growth and continuous learning is evident in his impressive record of accomplishments. He has attended advanced training programs, staying updated on the latest law enforcement techniques and emerging trends in criminal justice. His expertise and knowledge have contributed significantly to the effectiveness of the Cicero Police Department in tackling crime and maintaining a secure environment for all.
Over the years, Officer Rednour has received several accolades and commendations for his outstanding service. His commitment to duty, exceptional leadership skills, and unwavering dedication to the community have made him a role model for aspiring police officers in Cicero and beyond.
In his free time, Officer Rednour enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and granddaughter, as well as doing electrical work for members of the community, fishing, and trapping.
As Officer Rednour continues to serve and protect the residents of Cicero, his impact on the community is immeasurable. His career serves as an inspiration, reminding us of the selflessness and sacrifice that comes with a life dedicated to public service.
