Tuesday was Giving Tuesday at Janus Developmental Services. According to Janus representatives, it was an exciting day as online donations began pouring in early in the morning and donors stopped by all day to bring checks into Janus.
The Janus goal was $12,500, so that the organization could receive a pledge amount of $12,500 from an anonymous donor. By the end of the day, Janus had raised $20,445.23 before the match.
On Wednesday, the anonymous donor stopped by Janus to make his donation. As the donor began to talk about why he donates to Janus, he talked specifically about one client who began coming to Janus several years ago and now works in the community. He talked about how much this client contributes at his place of employment and what a joy he is to be around.
According to a statement issued by Janus’ Debbie Larid, the donor suddenly said, “I am going to match the entire amount. In fact. I don’t like dealing with pennies, just round it up to $21,000.” And just like that the new total for the day became $41,445.
Janus provides individuals with disabilities the opportunity to participate and contribute within the community.
