Janet Lee Hammill, Fishers, died peacefully in her home on March 22, 2023. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest K. Figenbaum, Jr. and Eleanor Lee, of Lexington, Mass. She led a full life and died at the age of 68.
Janet is survived by her only child, Jared T. (Courtney) Hammill of Fishers. She loved her two grandchildren, Matthew and Lizzie, dearly. She is also survived by her siblings, Ernest Karl Figenbaum III (Debbie), Nancy Davies (David), and Sandra Shedwick (Drew). Janet had many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins, too. Family was dear to Janet.
She was a graduate of Clarion University and earned a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. After working over 40 years for several companies (Westinghouse, Dow Chemical, Nova Chemical, G.E., Alcoa, and Rohm and Haus), Janet was the proud owner of her own consulting business, J L Hammill Consulting, LLC. She earned a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. She was also an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.
Janet loved to travel and has enjoyed trips to Paris, London, Dubai, Belize, and Japan. She also had many friends in her previous hometowns of Pittsburgh, Pa., King of Prussia, Pa., Williamstown, Mass., Philadelphia, Pa., Houston, Texas, and Bridgeville, Pa. She was a former Girl Scout and member of the Rainbow Girls.
Janet served on the Altar Guild in several of the Episcopal churches she attended, including St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mt. Lebanon, Pa. She has chosen to be cremated and interred in the columbarium of this Church next to her parents at a date to be determined.
Janet will be missed by all the people whose lives she touched.
