Jan Keefer launches Indiana State Senate campaign in District 31

Submitted

On Thursday, Feb. 26, seasoned family law attorney and longtime Lawrence Township (Marion County) community leader, Jan Keefer, officially launched her campaign for the Indiana State Senate District 31 seat, vowing to protect Hoosier families as she has for 35 years in the courtroom and to keep Indiana a place where families can plant roots, raise their children, and build their futures.

Keefer has spent her career standing up for Indiana families and helping them find solutions to the problems and issues that they face. She is now running for Indiana State Senate in the 31st District to continue her mission.

She spent her late teenage years in Marion, Ind., and later attended Indiana University. After graduating from IU, she met her husband, Jack Keefer. Following a successful career in sales with AT&T, she earned her law degree from Indiana University’s McKinney School of Law and began working to protect what she believes is society’s most essential institution: the family.

Keefer has always been actively involved in many community organizations that bring opportunities to and serve families and children, such as the Lawrence Township School Foundation, the Fishers Art Council, and the Community Health Network Foundation. She believes Indiana’s future depends on creating paths to retain and recruit families, rather than pushing young people away from their Hoosier homes and toward cities like Chicago or Nashville to achieve their career aspirations.

During her husband’s Hall of Fame basketball coaching career at Lawrence North High School, she traveled across Indiana, spending countless evenings in gymnasiums in communities throughout Indiana, from Gary to Jeffersonville, including cities like Marion, New Castle, Kokomo, Terre Haute, and Bloomington. Through these experiences, she connected with Hoosiers from all walks of life and grew to appreciate the often-overlooked communities that built Indiana’s manufacturing strength, as well as the shared values that knit them together: faith, family, freedom, and the dignity of hard work.

Keefer is determined to safeguard these values for future generations of Hoosiers. As a State Senator for District 31, she will fight to keep Indiana a place where families can and will plant roots, raise their children, and build their futures. She champions fiscal responsibility, investing in infrastructure, fueling economic development to create good-paying Hoosier jobs, prioritizing education and supporting educators, defending pro-adoption policies, and keeping communities safe by securing the border and supporting law enforcement.
