James Logan Carter, 85, Sheridan, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Riverview Health in Noblesville. He was born on October 27, 1937, to Estill and Virginia (Hughes) Carter in Laurel County, Ky.
Logan was a wonderful dad, grandfather, and husband. He never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone he could. Logan worked in the coal mines as a child, then became a truck driver. He came to Noblesville to work at Firestone, where he retired. Logan enjoyed tinkering in his garage and fixing things he bought with his brother at garage sales and the sale barn.
He is survived by his children, James (Micole) Carter, Patricia Neptune, Tammie Reed, and Russell (Tammie) Reed; former wife, Barbara Sexton; 14 grandchildren, Natasha, Tanya, Brandon, Margaret, Mary, Emily, Logan, Sam, Melissa, Chris, Tasha, Jeremy, Heather, and Jimmy; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Logan was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Gore; sisters, Cora Estill Stinchcomb, Lorene Wells, Avanell Carter, and Eileen Toomey; brothers, Dexter Carter, Willard Carter, and Kermit Carter; grandson, Jason Gore; and his wife, Zola Carter.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., with services at 2 p.m., on Monday, June 12, 2023, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
