James C. Updegraff

April 6, 1942 – June 18, 2018

James C. Updegraff, 76, of Noblesville, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Prairie Lakes Health Campus in Noblesville. He was born on April 6, 1942 to the late Philip and Ellen (Dailey) Updegraff in Pittsburgh, Pa.

James graduated from Harbor High School in Ashtabula, Ohio, and received a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Kent State. For 45 years, he worked as an engineer for Firestone Industrial Products. James was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Noblesville where he served as deacon, elder and Sunday school superintendent. He enjoyed gardening and was very involved in Boy Scouts. James loved traveling in the U.S. and Canada and was always looking for water dams, lighthouses, trains and historical places. Most of all, he loved his children and grandchildren.

James is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol C. Updegraff, whom he married on November 26, 1966; son, David Updegraff; daughter, Jane (Mark) Foesch; two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Rebecca Foesch; and his sister, Lynn (Doug) Moore.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church of Noblesville, 1207 Conner St., Noblesville, with visitation from 10 a.m. to the time of service. Pastor Eric Gale will officiate. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
