Jacob J. “Jake” McDonald

April 6, 1919 – August 13, 2017

Jacob J. “Jake” McDonald, 98, Noblesville, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017, at The Lodge Assisted Living in Noblesville following a brief illness.

He was born on April 6, 1919, in Hamilton County to John B. and Mary McDonald.

Jacob was graduated from Lapel High School in 1937. He retired from B & E Cabinets. He attended and was very active in Prairie Baptist Church, as Sunday School Teacher, Music Director and served as Deacon for many years. He loved music and sang with the Lapel Jubilee Chorus, enjoyed painting scenery as a hobby. He was a sexton of Prairie Memorial Cemetery for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Rose (Sheller) Swank McDonald and three children, Karen (husband, Gary) Roudebush, of Anderson, John (wife, Denise) McDonald, of Noblesville, Calvin (wife, Susan) Swank, of Flower Mound, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jim (Jenny) Roudebush, Craig (Dee) Roudebush, Shon (Alicia) McDonald, Aaron (Samantha) McDonald, Kyle, Daniel and Claire Swank; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Jacob was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Helen (Huffman) McDonald.

A funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 Main North St., Lapel, IN, with Pastor Tom Greenslade officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 18, 2017, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 Main North St., Lapel, IN.

The family would like to thank both The Lodge and Transition Hospice for the staff’s professional and loving personal care provided to their father.
