Jack Everly to conduct Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, joined by vocalist Heather Headley

Grammy and Tony Award winner Heather Headley will perform a weekend of show-stopping hits with conductor Jack Everly and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

Fresh off her performance of the Broadway revival of Into the Woods, Headley will feature highlights from her career on stage, which includes Aida, The Lion King, The Bodyguard, and more.

About Jack Everly

Jack Everly is the Principal Pops Conductor of the Indianapolis and Baltimore Symphony Orchestras, Naples Philharmonic Orchestra, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra (Ottawa). He has conducted the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, the San Francisco Symphony, the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, and the Seattle Symphony.

Everly recently extended his contract with ISO through 2026, when he will assume the role of Principal Pops Conductor Emeritus. He will continue to be the music director of the AES Indiana Yuletide Celebration, the nation’s largest symphonic holiday production in the country. He led the ISO in its first Pops recording, Yuletide Celebration, Volume One. Some of his other recordings include In The Presence featuring the Czech Philharmonic and Daniel Rodriguez; Sandi Patty’s Broadway Stories; the soundtrack to Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame; and Everything’s Coming Up Roses: The Overtures of Jule Styne.

Everly, a Hoosier native and graduate of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, is a recipient of the 2015 Indiana Historical Society Living Legends Award and holds an Honorary Doctorate of Arts from Franklin College in Indiana. In 2023, he received the Sagamore of the Wabash award, the highest honor a Hoosier can receive, presented by Governor Eric Holcomb.

About Heather Headley

Heather Headley was born and raised on the Caribbean island of Trinidad. Her family moved to the U.S. in the early 1990s, where Heather’s love for the arts continued.

In 1997, Headley won the role of Nala in the original Broadway cast of the Elton John and Tim Rice’s hit Tony Award-winning musical The Lion King. While still in The Lion King, she was asked to audition for the title role in the writing duo’s next Broadway venture together, Aida. Her portrayal of the Nubian princess, Aida, won her the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical. That year she was listed as one of People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People and Essence magazine’s 30 Women To Watch.

Headley continued her musical success on the pop charts with her 2002 debut album This Is Who I Am and earned numerous accolades including Grammy Award nominations for Best New Artist and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. She returned in January 2006 with In My Mind, her long-awaited second solo album. In 2009, she released Audience of One, for which she won the Grammy Award for the Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album, and in 2012 she released Only One In The World.

In 2012, Headley made a triumphant return to the stage, starring in The Bodyguard in London’s West End, and in 2016 she made her return to Broadway, starring in the Tony Award-winning production of The Color Purple as Shug Avery. In 2018, she had a recurring role on Chicago Med playing the formidable Gwen Garrett. She can currently be seen as a series regular in Sweet Magnolias on Netflix. Most recently, she appeared as The Witch in the City Center production of Into the Woods.
