Isaac Ernesto Peña Sarmiento

Isaac Ernesto Peña Sarmiento, 67, Westfield, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021. He was born on October 23, 1953 in Valencia, Edo Carabobo, Venezuela, son of Ramon Isaias Peña and Carmen Felicia Sarmiento de Peña.

Isaac, or as he would say, Licenciado Peña (Boñe), was born and raised in Valencia, Venezuela, where he started his professional career in Business administration as well as a university professor. He was one of six children and was always a deeply devoted son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Overall, the most amazing human and family man of this world.

Isaac enjoyed life at his fullest, but his favorite things were to listen to good music while enjoying a glass of wine or whiskey, cooking and talking on the phone with his family, picking up and playing boxing with his grandson, loving on his nieces and nephews, but mostly working at his magazine and making great friendships of which he was very proud of along the way. A great athlete, at 20 years of age he achieved his black belt in Taekwondo, taking second place in the world championship.

For most of his professional career while in Venezuela, he worked for “CANTV” the largest telecommunications company in Venezuela. Isaac moved to the United States in 2002, where he then started the successful CV Latina Magazine “la revista donde su negocio se ve major.” He grew this as the number one and first Spanish magazine in the Midwest and today has published more than 200 issues.

Isaac was an active member of the Indianapolis community and a big part of the Venezuelan Association. He was recognized in multiple occasions for his volunteering and hard work.

In addition to his parents, Isaac was preceded in death by his brother, Reyes Peña.

Survivors include his wife, Adalys Peña; daughter, Adahisa Peña; son, Isaac Peña; grandson, Sebastian Peña; brothers, Ismael Peña and Jesus Peña; sisters, Trina Peña and Ana Peña; and nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:30 a.m.
