Invite a woman veteran you know for Women Veterans Day Tea

On Friday, June 12, we invite you to help us honor the women who have worn our nation’s uniform by joining us – and by spreading the word to the women veterans in your life.

Women Veterans Day marks the 1948 Women’s Armed Services Integration Act, which granted women a permanent place in the U.S. Armed Forces. At Hamilton County’s only public military library and museum, we are committed to making sure their stories are heard and their service is seen.

This year’s observance will include a special Women Veterans Day Tea, hosted by our women veteran volunteers.

Key details

• Location: Clay Township Military Library & Museum, 10801 N. College Ave., Carmel
• Open House: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (drop in any time)
• Women Veterans Tea: 2 to 4 p.m.
• Cost: No cost to attend.
• Refreshments: Tea, coffee, cake, and cookies will be served.
• Dress: Comfortable, casual attire – this is meant to feel relaxed and welcoming.
• RSVP (women veterans only): Space is limited to 22 women veterans; please RSVP by calling (317) 565-9241.

How you can help this week

• Personally invite at least one woman veteran you know – family member, neighbor, coworker, or fellow congregant – and offer to come with her to the museum. Many women who have served still do not realize there is a national day set aside in their honor.
• Share our Facebook post about Women Veterans Day (June 12) and tag women veterans or veteran-friendly organizations.
• If you are a woman veteran, please come as you are, bring a friend if you’d like, and join us for an afternoon of fun, food, fellowship, and shared stories across all branches of service.

Whether a woman veteran chooses to share her story, quietly enjoy a cup of tea, or simply look around the museum, her presence matters. Your help inviting and welcoming her makes a real difference.
